"After using Sonlight for just one year, I'm completely astonished how well my daughter reads," writes Jessie S of Deridder, LA. "Before we started using Sonlight, she absolutely loathed it. After using Core B with Grade 1 Readers, her reading skills took off and she now reads with amazing fluency. Reading has become enjoyable, and she actually offers to read to her younger siblings, much to their delight." Here, Journie (6) shares a good read with sister Piper (3) and brother Seeley (2).
"Without Sonlight, we never would have had this God moment!" writes Jessica S of Etna, OH. "We met this lovely lady in the airport while traveling. She is Haitian and speaks French and Creole. She was engaging with the kids, and they were fascinated to know she was from another country! I asked if she wouldn't mind sharing some words with my kids, so she began teaching them different words in French and Creole. We mentioned a missionary family we know serving Haiti, and she was thrilled to know we were Christians. Emery (9) talked about Catching Their Talk in a Box and missionaries we've learned about. How cool is that?" In the photo: Emery (9), Liam (7), and Aubrey (5) with their new Haitian friend.
One of the things I love most about Sonlight has been how it has encouraged family learning. What could be more wonderful than watching big sisters and brothers reading and teaching the younger ones? When I'm reading from one of the many fabulous Sonlight books, it's magnetic. I may start reading to one child, but pretty soon, the room is quiet and several are listening and snuggling up on the couch! I just can't say enough about how the incredible literature has enhanced our togetherness. We've been using Sonlight for 13 wonderful years and are going to have our first graduate this year! Our youngest is just beginning her Sonlight adventure. Angelina (5) and Isabella (11) are using Cores A and H.

An outstanding collection of seventeen children's books for you to read-aloud with your children. Introduce your children to childhood favorites that everyone should get to enjoy. You'll read Charlotte's Web, and the Beverly Cleary classic Henry Huggins. You'll meet 20th Century favorite Homer Price, and 21st Century favorite Gooney Bird Greene – both by award-winning authors. From the funny wild-animal stories in Owls in the Family, to the poignant farm-animal stories in Mountain Born; from performing penguins in Stillwater, to a classroom in Alaska … these are stories that will make your children laugh out loud, that might bring you to tears, and that you and your children will remember for a lifetime.
And a special shout-out to the gorgeous book of animal poems, one that even poetry-dreading boys beg to keep reading.
This collection of books is included in History / Bible / Literature B. If you don't need notes or a schedule, but are just looking for some excellent supplemental reading, this book collection is for you!
Colorful introduction to the more significant gods, goddesses, and legendary figures of ancient Greece: Pandora, Heracles (Hercules), Midas, Icarus, and many others.
Welcome to the hilarious adventures of Wol and Weeps, two of the most lovable pets you'll ever meet. The great horned owls shake up a whole Saskatchewan neighborhood, outsmart Mutt the dog, and turn a house topsy-turvy.
A gorgeous collection of incredible poems with jaw-dropping National Geographic photography throughout. Just the photo of the eagle in flight with Tennyson's "The Eagle" is worth the price of the book. The whole thing: absolutely stunning.
Anna learned how to be a good friend last year. This year, she wants to learn how to be a good sister to a baby girl her family adopted from China. When the doctor warns that the baby isn't thriving, Anna and her best friends, Laura and Camille, create a science project to help save the little one. Will Anna's devotion to her new sister be enough to save her?
