Momo, a young Tibetan girl, chases the man who stole her Lhasa terrier--from high in the Himalayas to the Bengal plains and the city of Calcutta.

Stunning introduction to landscapes, peoples and customs of which most of us are wholly unaware. Exciting and thought-provoking!

Interesting book. Parts were slow, but we learned alot about the differeces in cultures between Tibet and India. Also Momo's perseverence, and dedication to her dog were great.

Needed a decent amount of discussion, because the book makes it look like the girl's prayers to Buddha were being answered by Buddha. The endless journey and increasingly obvious conclusion made this not a favorite of mine, but there was a lot of good cultural and geographical information to be gleaned about Tibet and India. My girls loved it.

How many miles is it from Lhasa, Tibet and Calcutta, India?

My younger daughters (8 & 6) listened while I read this to my fifth grader. We all loved it. We learned about the people of Tibet, Nepal, and India. As dog owners, we loved the story of the amazing relationship between the girl and her dog. The story was adventurous, and the ending was terrific.
