12-year-old Natalie Nelson writes a novel that her best friend, Zoe, thinks is good enough to be published. Natalie isn't so sure.

The two set out to achieve the impossible: get the book published by a major publisher. Fascinating and realistic glimpse into the world of book publishing.

5 out of 5 stars by Alan S on 2011-01-17
My kids, my wife, and I all *loved* this one, and we had great discussion about office politics, poker, and the publishing world. Brought up great points about fair not being the same as equal. We actually read most of this over a weekend as the kids kept begging for more. (kids: 9, 6, (4 year old and newborn just enjoyed being with us.))

We really enjoyed this book! After reading it, my kids decided to write stories and then edit them for eachother. The characters were fun to know. Each chapter left us wanting to read more. It gave a glimpse of what the publishing world is like.

This was an awesome book! We all (my 6- and 8-year-olds and I) LOVED it! The characters, the plot, the sub-plots - awesome! Andrew Clements spins such great tales; we enjoy his work a lot!
