Algebra 2 is made up of five instructional components: Introduction of the New Increment, Examples with Complete Solutions, Practice of the Increment, Daily Problem Sets and Cumulative Tests. Algebra 2 not only treats topics that are traditionally covered in second-year algebra, but also covers a considerable amount of geometry. Time is spent developing geometric concepts and writing proof outlines. Students completing this Algebra 2 homeschool curriculum Will have studied the equivalent of one semester of informal geometry. Applications to other subjects such as physics and chemistry, as well as real-world problems, are covered, including gas laws, force vectors, chemical mixtures, and percent markups. Set theory, probability and statistics, and other topics are also included.
Algebra 2 includes such topics as:
- graphical solution of simultaneous equations
- scientific notation
- roots of quadratic equations including complex roots
- properties of real numbers
- inequalities and systems of inequalities
- logarithms and antilogarithms
- conic sections
- exponential equations
- basic trigonometric functions
- algebra of polynomials
- vectors in polar and rectangular form
- algebraic word problems
Algebra 2 Homeschool Kit Contents
Saxon's secondary mathematics programs have been carefully planned and packaged. All you need to successfully teach each program is included in the homeschool kit. The Algebra 2
homeschool kit includes a textbook, an answer key for textbook problem sets, and tests.
The Solutions Manual provides step-by-step solutions for each problem in the textbook problem sets. Solutions to test problems included with the answer key. Please note:
The Solutions Manual is a separate purchase from the Algebra 2
Includes black and white hardbound student text, and Pb answer key (final answers only- no documentation or explanations), with test packet plus the appropriate Saxon solution manual. "Unless you were an absolute whiz in algebra and you also remember what was involved, you will find the Saxon Home Study Kit is inadequate; you truly need the solution manual that documents how to acquire the answer . . . . (We should know; we've tried to do without. It's no fun! -And I was an algebra whiz. Too bad I've forgotten so much!)
Note that it is not by our choice that we 'force' you to purchase the answer key and test packet in addition to the solution manual. Saxon Publishers will not sell the student text by itself to homeschoolers. You must buy the full home study kit, including answer key and tests; then Saxon will permit you to purchase the solution manual as well."
