Each experiment reinforces the concepts learned in the reading while also providing an experience that trains them to think like scientists.
In these 36 experiments—suitable for middle school grades—you will explore what makes up an atom, what happens when electric and magnetic fields interact, investigate how mass and velocity impact energy, predict how light bounces and bends, and so much more! You'll even design your own solutions to a few presented problems and then come up with ways to improve your design based on test results!
Each experiment relates directly to the reading material scheduled in the Sonlight Science H package for a more linear progression from reading to doing. You'll guide your student through an exploration of the scientific process, starting with a key question—using your children's natural instinct to question and be curious! As they draw conclusions from their experiments, they will be able to adjust their thinking and gain an appreciation for the scientific process (and principles!) they just experienced for themselves.
