Sonlight's First Day of School Photo Contest - Official Rules

Terms & Conditions

Entry Period:
Submissions will be accepted from August 15 through September 7, 2025 at 11:59 PM Mountain Time (MT).

How to Enter:

• Method 1 - Social Media Submission: Post a photo of your student's first day of homeschool holding Sonlight's downloadable "First Day of Homeschool" sign. Share the photo on Facebook or Instagram, and include the hashtag #SonlightFirstDayPhoto. Be sure to tag @SonlightCurriculum in your post.

*Submissions from private accounts will not be visible and therefore cannot be included for consideration.

• Method 2 - Website Submission: Log in to your account at sonlight.com. Navigate to your account and the Photo/Testimonials tab at the top of the page and follow the prompts to upload your photo of your student holding Sonlight's downloadable "First Day of Homeschool" sign.

Eligibility:
Open to legal residents of the United States and Canada who are at least 18 years of age at the time of entry. Entrants must be the parent or legal guardian of any minors featured in the photo.

Entry Guidelines:
Photo must be original and taken by you (or with your permission).

By submitting a photo, you confirm that:

• You own the rights to the photo.
• You have consent to share the image/likeness of anyone featured in the photo (from the person or their parent/guardian). 
• Your photo does not include any inappropriate, offensive, or infringing content.
• You are a Sonlight customer.

Sonlight reserves the right to disqualify any entry deemed inappropriate or in violation of these rules.

Encouraged Themes & Creativity:
While all entries must include Sonlight’s official “First Day of Homeschool” sign, we encourage families to showcase their personality and homeschool spirit! Especially, those that show authentic parts of their homeschool day. Consider including your learning space, favorite books, siblings, pets, or creative props to bring your photo to life.

Voting Criteria:
Finalists will be selected by Sonlight based on creativity, joy, and how well the photo reflects a positive homeschool experience. Public voting will be based on the overall impression of the photo, including creativity, setting, and celebration of learning at home. This contest is not based solely on popularity or appearance.

Voting Process:
Sonlight will select the top three photo finalists. Public voting will occur from September 10 through September 16, 2025 at 11:59 PM MT via a 3rd party app on the Sonlight website. Customers will be notified via email and social media with the link to begin voting. The photo with the most votes will be named the first place winner. The photo with the least amount of votes will be named the third place winner.

Winner Announcement:
Winners will be announced on September 17, 2025 via Sonlight’s website, email, and social media channels. Winners will also be contacted by email or Social Media to claim their prize.

Prizes:

• 1st Place: $250 Sonlight gift card delivered electronically via email
• 2nd Place: $50 Sonlight gift card (or choice of select hands-on product) + a Sonlight branded Planner & Journal
• 3rd Place: $25 Sonlight gift cart + physical End-of-Year Memory Book + Sonlight T-Shirt (size availability varies)

No cash alternatives or price substitutions allowed. Prizes are non-transferable. Gifts cards will be delivered electronically via email.

Photo Use & Consent:
By entering the contest, you grant Sonlight a royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute your submitted photo in marketing materials, including but not limited to Sonlight’s website, social media, emails, print materials, and advertisements. You waive any right to inspect or approve final use and understand that no further compensation will be provided beyond the listed prizes.

Limitation of Liability:
Sonlight is not responsible for:

• Technical failures or errors affecting entry submissions or voting
• Lost, late, or misdirected entries
• Internet connectivity or device issues
• Disputes over photo ownership or permissions

By participating, entrants agree to release and hold harmless Sonlight Curriculum, Ltd. from any claims, damages, or liability arising from or related to participation in the contest or acceptance/use of any prize.

Other Notes:
