Unsure about teaching with books?

Sonlight pioneered Literature-Rich Homeschooling more than 25 years ago.

Back then, no company scheduled real books into a complete course of study. But when Sarita Holzmann started to homeschool her children, she did just that: scheduled books she loved, and read them to her children. She enjoyed it so much, she wanted to allow other families to experience the same benefits that she did, so she started Sonlight.

Over the years, Sarita's idea has not only helped Sonlight students, but has also led to several similar brands, companies that started with our booklist and revised it in some way.

I asked Sarita (my mom) once if this bothered her. After all, for a time, Sonlight was the only literature-rich program out there! And she laughed and said, "If we want children to be homeschooled with parents who love them, and to fall in love with books and learning, why would I be bothered about that?"

My name is Amy Lykosh. As a second-generation Sonlighter, I think literature-rich homeschooling is the best way to teach (and Sonlight is best of all). I invite you to find out more.
