This collection of books is included in History / Bible / Literature A. If you don't need notes or a schedule, but would like some supplemental reading to go along with an early elementary study of American history, this book collection is for you.

Includes 11 titles, including Sonlight's new History spine—Heroes and Happenings. The sixty chapters in the two-volume Heroes and Happenings introduces children to a wide range of people and events from American History. Some of them are well-known, like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Some are far more obscure, like Dave the Potter, an enslaved African American who inscribed rhymes on his pots at a time when the enslaved were forbidden from learning to read, or Temple Grandin, the autistic professor who transformed how people manage cattle.

Each volume of Heroes and Happenings is around 150 full-color glossy pages, for a total of 60 stories across 300 pages. What a lot of stories! Although the books progress chronologically, each chapter can stand alone, too. This makes it a great reference book for elementary-age kids who are learning to write research papers, so keep it around after first grade ends!
