No one but Sonlight offered a curriculum that gave such a wonderful overview of the Eastern Hemisphere countries and cultures! The books helped our children understand what they would experience before we went to South Africa for two months. Reading 'A Journey to Jo'burg' aloud on the porch of our house outside Jo'burg [Johannesburg] had an incredibly powerful impact and helped all of us (parents included) understand the depth of apartheid and the healing South Africa is going through. And as their father continues to travel the world with his job, our five kids have a window into those faraway places through the wonderful books in Core F. Thirteen-year-old William got a big special kiss during his family's adventure. This was their first year of Sonlight.

Does Sonlight really develop a love for learning? You bet Emma reads in the morning, afternoon and just before bedtime. Here, she just HAD to start a new book ... prior to breakfast, getting dressed or doing her morning chores. How could I say no to this insatiable love for reading that Sonlight has helped develop? Sonlight has helped our first three years of homeschooling be a blessing and success! School is fun, not boring, and the books are so exciting. Eight-year-old Emma is diving into Core C this year as little sister Audrey starts on P3/4.

We love Sonlight because it teaches our children to think critically about what they are learning. It challenges them to carefully consider the worldview that the media and many of their friends hold. They are learning that the biblical worldview is supported by science (among other subjects) and they are learning how to defend their faith. Sonlight also breaks us free from the 'school at home' mindset by allowing a more relaxed learning environment and encouraging discussion rather than completing lots of worksheets. Thanks Sonlight!
