"Even the technical aspects of science become clear when you have hands-on learning and great books with detailed, colorful graphics and kid-based wording," writes Lois B of Alberta, Canada. "I love the awesome science experiments Sonlight provides, making learning fun while including all the materials and planning so we can dive in." Here, Shilo (10) learns about bridge designs from Diary of an Early American Boy in Science E. She has used Sonlight from the start of her education.
We love Sonlight because it teaches our children to think critically about what they are learning. It challenges them to carefully consider the worldview that the media and many of their friends hold. They are learning that the biblical worldview is supported by science (among other subjects) and they are learning how to defend their faith. Sonlight also breaks us free from the 'school at home' mindset by allowing a more relaxed learning environment and encouraging discussion rather than completing lots of worksheets. Thanks Sonlight! Here, twelve-year-old Mackenzie reads from Science G in her third year of Sonlight.
There are many reasons we choose Sonlight each year: We love the books, the Christ-centered curriculum and we really do love to learn! One of my prayers for homeschooling was that our children would have fun while learning together. Sonlight helped answer that prayer by providing great Readers, Read-Alouds, History lessons, Science experiments and Bible memory verses set to music that we can enjoy together. On this beautiful summer day, they took some of their favorite books outside to enjoy with each other. In their fifth Sonlight year, Karli (5) is using Core A with Language Arts 1 and Samantha (8) is using Core D. They're studying Science A and E together.

This illustrated rewrite of a diary written by Noah Blake, a boy who lived in 1850, brings us face-to-face with the highest forms of craftsmanship in the early 1800s. Nail making, bridge building, shingle splitting: it's all here in a remarkable book full of detailed illustrations!
