"Without Sonlight, we never would have had this God moment!" writes Jessica S of Etna, OH. "We met this lovely lady in the airport while traveling. She is Haitian and speaks French and Creole. She was engaging with the kids, and they were fascinated to know she was from another country! I asked if she wouldn't mind sharing some words with my kids, so she began teaching them different words in French and Creole. We mentioned a missionary family we know serving Haiti, and she was thrilled to know we were Christians. Emery (9) talked about Catching Their Talk in a Box and missionaries we've learned about. How cool is that?" In the photo: Emery (9), Liam (7), and Aubrey (5) with their new Haitian friend.
Sonlight has kept its promise to give my children a love of reading. I'm building my home around your Cores. The six-, four- and two-year-old love to listen and sing along to songs about the United States. History is my daughter's favorite. She's usually reading 3–4 books at the same time, which she keeps in different locations around the house. On this day, a lake trip was cancelled due to rain. Without even taking off their suits, they climbed on the couch and got lost in their books. Grace (9), Bryce (6) and Reece (4) are immersed in Core E, and Readers Grade 4–5 and Grade 2 in the family's fifth year with Sonlight.
"Sonlight's flexibility allowed us to do school together, despite the differences in my kids' ages," writes Rachel B. of Weatherford, TX. "We just finished our first year homeschooling two children, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was! James (5) was eager to jump into the History / Bible / Literature program Elizabeth (8) was using. Anne (2) got a kick out of 'supervising' her older siblings with me!" Elizabeth, James and Anne pose with all their Sonlight Read-Alouds.
I'm so thankful for Sonlight's Language Arts guidance. We kept plugging away and I took faith in the tips and pointers (and Ruth Beechick's book). I won't forget the week everything seemed to brighten and I wasn't 'making' Zeke read anymore. He now says reading is his favorite! Here, Zeke (7, Core C) and Amelia (4, Pre-Kindergarten Multi-Subject) think little sister Isabella's hair looks like Ping from Little Pear [Core B].

The only boy in a Chinese family, Little Pear has greater latitude for mischief than others.
A delightful glimpse of life in China at the turn of the century.
