Now is the time to apply for your Scholarship for classes beginning the Fall of 2011
Sonlight Curriculum, Ltd.'s charitable foundation is sponsoring a competition for thirteen scholarships: one $5,000 ($20,000 total), four $2,500 ($10,000 total, each), and eight $1,000 ($4,000 total, each) annual four-year scholarships for students who intend to begin college in the Fall of 2011.
To be eligible for a scholarship award for students beginning college in 2011, we will require candidates to have purchased and used five (5) full Sonlight Curriculum Core programs (may include Core or Newcomer packages or, from previous years, CorePlus™, CoreUltra™, "Basic," or "First-Time" packages), all purchased in 2000 or later.
We encourage you to contact us in September or after to verify eligibility, as this may save you considerable time and avoid unnecessary aggravation. You may either send an email to scholarship@sonlight.com or call 303-730-6292 and ask for the scholarship coordinator.
We are offering these scholarships based upon two different sets of criteria (one called Green and the other, Blue). You may apply to meet either set, but not both.
1. Green Criteria: We will give four scholarships in which creativity, mission mindedness, acts of kindness, and other factors count more highly than academics. Two $2,500 ($10,000 total) and two $1,000 ($4,000 total, each) annual four-year scholarships will be awarded in this category based upon the following weighted criteria, in order of the greater weight to the lesser weight:
2. Blue Criteria: We will give nine scholarships in which academics are the greatest weight in our selection. For at least two of these scholarships, we will give added weight to applications from applicants with math or science backgrounds. We will give one $5,000 ($20,000 total), two $2,500 ($10,000 total, each), and six $1,000 ($4,000 total, each) annual four-year scholarships based upon the following weighted criteria, in order of the greater weight to the lesser weight:
All Scholarship applications for students beginning classes in the Fall of 2011 must be postmarked by December 7, 2010. We will accept and review all applications postmarked December 7, 2010 and before.
The scholarship committee will review all applications, decide on qualifications and merit, and inform the winner(s) no later than February 15, 2011.
Please read our evaluation criteria to determine your eligibility and then use our application to apply!
Note that if you win one of these scholarships, you will receive it for four consecutive years of your undergraduate college career as long as you maintain eligibility as follows:
