Return Instructions


Need to make a return? Please use the following steps to make the process as easy as possible (click a step to view it):

Step 1. Review Sonlight's Return Policy

If we made a mistake with your order, if anything arrived damaged, or if you have questions please contact us before making your return. Please EMAIL us at main@sonlight.com or CALL us at 303-730-6292. Please review the complete details of our guarantee:

The Sonlight® 100% "Love to Learn" Guarantee:

Buy a Sonlight® Core or Newcomer package, a Sonlight® Instructor's Guide, or Eastern Hemisphere Explorer. You can also create your own complete program by combining any Core with any Language Arts, Math, Science, and/or Bible programs, plus the coordinating Required Resources you need. Use this eligible program for eighteen weeks. If you are not convinced it makes homeschooling a pleasure for you and your kids, please return it—the entire package, used books and all. We will give you a full refund of the purchase price of your items.

  • You have up to one year from date of purchase to complete the first 18 weeks of your Core or Newcomer packages. You can try everything that's scheduled through Week 18 and still return it for a full refund (not including return shipping expenses).
  • All materials not first scheduled for use until Week 19 or later must be returned to us in unused, resalable condition.
  • We will accept a partial return of a Core or Newcomer package (per Core purchase) so you can keep those items that work for you. Any items you keep from a partial return are then subject to our Standard 6-month policy (see below).
  • A full or partial Core return (even if purchased within a Newcomer program) WILL VOID Sonlighters Core Club membership.

Sonlight® Standard 6-Month Return Policy applies to individual items and single subject packages (such as History, Bible, Reader, Read-Aloud, Language Arts, Math, and Science).

  • Items must be returned in unused, resalable condition (without markings in or on them, broken bindings, label stickers, any scuffs or other wear).
  • You will receive a 90% refund (not including shipping expenses).
  • Materials returned after six months or received by us in non-resalable condition will not receive a refund nor will we return these materials to you.
  • We are unable to process exchange requests or new orders received with your return. Please place a new order via our website at www.sonlight.com, via email at orders@sonlight.com, by fax (303-795-8668), or regular mail.

Refunds will be processed within 10 business days of receipt of your return.

If you purchased by credit card we will refund your credit to that same card. Due to credit card company policies, we are unable to grant requests for a refund any other way. If you paid by check or electronic check, your refund will be mailed to you.

Step 2. Review Important Reminders

Please follow these simple guidelines for a quick and easy return:

  1. Please do not enclose new orders with your return.
  2. Please do not include credit card information with your return.
  3. Use a new box of the right size.
  4. Lay materials flat, not on their sides.
  5. Pack CDs, Binders, and Science Supply Kits on top of books.
  6. Use lots of packing material, but not newspaper since the ink can damage items.
  7. Clearly print your name & address on the outside of the box.
  8. Attach "Return Label" (found in top lefthand corner of your packing slip) to the outside of the box.
  9. Ship to Sonlight via UPS, FedEx, or Insured Postal Service to guarantee safe arrival.

    Note: If we do not receive your return, or if it is received damaged from shipping, we can neither grant you a refund nor return the items to you.
    FOR YOUR PROTECTION, PLEASE DO NOT SEND PERSONAL CREDIT CARD / BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION WITH YOUR PACKAGE. While we keep your information strictly confidential, if your package is lost and subsequently opened by others, your information could be readily available and open to fraud. Be assured, we most likely have your accurate billing information in our system. If for some reason we don't, we will be certain to contact you directly.

  10. International customers: Please also write a clear description of the goods being returned [i.e. Textbooks-Educational Materials]. State on the commercial invoice US Goods Returned and include HTS# 9801.00.10

Step 3. Complete Your Return Online

Simply select the appropriate order number from your automated returns page. Then choose the item(s) you wish to return and follow the prompts from there.
