Sonlight P3/4 Fiction, Fairy Tales, and Fun for Little Learners

I bought this for my 3 year old, I also have triplet 1 year olds and want to home preschool them all, not only is my 3 year old enjoying the readings but I also have a 6 year old that is enjoying the stories as well. I plan on buying the P 4/5 next year and following with the K package. My 3 year old and triplets are all September babies and I plan on using Sonlight for home preeschooling, I am hoping when I send the 3 year old off to K the teacher will say that she knows all the K stuff and needs to be in 1st grade, if that happens I think I will homeschool the school years too, and pull my oldest out. I am just not sure if I can do it with triplet 1 year olds, but when they are older. Maybe. :) Thanks for a great start Sonlight we are enjoying the books!!!!! :)

I bought this for my 4 year-old daughter a couple of years ago, because we lived overseas and had few books of our own. I'm using it again with my 3 year-old son, but my daughter still loves the stories. These books follow my kids to rest time, in the car, to bed, and everywhere in between. I've been following the reading list and although some people may not like the jumping around from book to book, my kids seem to enjoy guessing what we're going to read next. This core has definitely been worth the cost and has filled out our home library nicely!

We bought P3/4 for my daughter when she was 3.5 (2 years ago now) and my son was 22 months. It didn't take more than a week or two before my son was sitting still for entire stories, and my daughter loved hearing stories over and over. We finished the core and moved on to P4/5, but now that my son is 3.5, we're including P3/4 in our daily schedule for his benefit. My daughter, now 5.5 and in kindergarten, still loves listening to the stories, and now my son is old enough to understand and enjoy them too. Hardly any of the stories in the entire collection are the kind that drive you up the wall if your kid wants to hear them again, so I'm happy to give the kids all the re-reading they want. The Wee Sing CD is still a popular choice for car trips, and the Mighty Mind is a toy that they both still enjoy. So this investment has provided many hours of pleasure for 2 years now, and I anticipate that it will continue to do so for years to come.

We have loved P3/4. When our oldest was turning 2 we recieved the Harper Collins Collection from another family who was doing Sonlight. I wasn't sure if we would do homeschooling, but we did love the book. Eventually, we decided that we would do preschool at home so this fall I ordered the new comer package. I have not been disappointed. Our oldest will be 4 in April and we are over half way thru P3/4. Daily I am asked to "please can we do preschool?" We also have a 21 month old who loves to listen to some of the stories. Of course he still is much to young for some of the stories. The only thing that I have found is that my little girl beggs for workbooks. There are no workbooks in this package. I agree that at this age I don't think they are necessary. However, for us we did add in Kumon workbooks and Critical thinking workbooks for her. I look forward to ordering P4/5 this summer. Thank you sonlight for all your work!

We just finished P 3/4 two days ago. When I first decided to try Sonlight, I wasn't so sure about it and only ordered some of the books. I'd tried a bunch of other curricula and wasn't too pleased with any of them--especially the book selections. But we enjoyed the books we got from Sonlight SO much that soon I was back here ordering more and regretted not just getting the Newcomer pack. We've read so many of the stories again and again that I'm glad I didn't just try to get them from the library and then have to return them. Also, when I got the P 3/4 companion guide, I was rather displeased with it --it is just a list of stories in order of difficulty, broken down into trimesters with very short activity suggestions that I never did bother with. So, I tried to read through the books without it and quickly found that many stories were too hard for my daughter. So, I pulled out the guide and started reading through the list. I figured, why do it myself when it is already done for me? Then I could see the great value of, not only the list, but also the stories Sonlight has picked. The stories start our really simple and with lots of pictures and slowly, over this level and the next, get more complex and have fewer pictures. I feel like it eases the kids away from pictures and into using their imaginations, and into chapter books later, in an unintimidating and very enjoyable way. We are starting P 4/5 in a couple weeks, and I feel a little silly that I have already picked out my daughter's curriculum for K! I still don't know if I will use Sonlight past level K, but I think I'm slowly being won over. And it feels great to have the next two years planned out with books and activities I know both my daughter and I are going to enjoy!

My son absolutely loves P 3/4. When we first started it at 2.6 he got about half of it. Now he is approaching 3 and we are about to move on. My grandchildren from 3 to 8 listen in on the stories too. The 20th Century Children's Book Treasury and Harper Collins Treasury of Picture Book Classics are their favorites. We have a huge coconut tree from Chicka Chicka Boom Boom ;-). Thanks Sonlight !!!

We are almost finished with this program and my 3 yr old wild boy that never knew how to be still has grown to love story time and wants to read book after book (sitting down).I wanted to make sure I covered the classic fairy tale stories with my kids and they are all a part of this curriculum along with modern classics like Where the Wild Things Are. I will never part with this collection it really is the foundation for an incredible family library.

Our family agrees with the rave reviews here - my girls loved these books, and are still picking them up and requesting them again although we are on the next stage up. I enjoyed the helpful and encouraging tips and comments in the Instructors Guide, though we did none of the related activities. They were either at the wrong level for my two, or had already been done. That doesn't stop a 5 star rating though - the books are fantastic and don't actually need anything to help them.

When I first opened our package I was speechless. Everything from the high-quality books to the box they were packed in brought joy to my son. As I saw his eyes light up with each book we pulled out of the box from this set, I couldn't have been more thrilled. Our family is beyond pleased with the choice we made to start using Sonlight P3/4.

My son(age 4) loves all the books. We started in May and are taking our time with everything but he loves to read. "101 Children's Stories from the Bible" is very useful, as he also goes to Bible Study Fellowship and we read the stories he learns about in his class. "Go Dog Go" and "Nana Upstairs,Nana Downstairs are also his favorites. If it is a new book or story we are reading it may take him a day to warm up to it but he usually does. This core has been very easy to "teach" and for myself, who is totally new to homeschooling, it has been a relief to realize homeschooling can be fun. I think at this point my heart would break if I had to send my son to school!!
