This musically and lyrically rich sound recording and text set uses humor as well as challenges to help students learn about various science subjects:

As with the other Lyrical Life Science CD's, this one is of the highest production quality, recorded by Bobby Horton, a professional instrumental and vocal musician who specializes in 19th and early 20th century folk music. (He is featured on the PBS "Civil War" and "Baseball" video series.)

Text includes complete lyrics and sheet music (including guitar chords), numerous detailed illustrations, and in-depth explanations of concepts in the lyrics. The workbook includes two or three worksheets for each segment of the program. Worksheets may be used for study, review, and/or testing. Besides worksheets, there are also "digging deeper" questions, to help students understand how what they are studying applies to their lives, as well as a complete answer key.

We did the first chapter of Lyrical Life Science Volume 1 today. I was so impressed. There was a lot of scientific content and my son liked the music. He pretended he didn't, but I could tell. This is a wonderful resource!

These are great, likable, singable songs. We haven't used it yet as intended (i.e. we haven't broken out the workbook), but I can already tell that the exposure my daughter is getting is affecting her vocabulary!
