Outstanding book! Love the way it is presented, with all the interesting notes along the sidebars. This book rocketed my daughter and me to REALLY research a lot of the information in it, and discover the truth of it. Only problem is: I bought it for my 8th graders "Health and Nutrition" curriculum and it is written at a level WAY too high for her understanding . . . so I have also had to write a "Study Guide" to go along with it (with definitions and sidebars!). Now that she can understand it, it is her all-time favorite book! Because she now understands the reasons behind eating this, and not eating that, her diet is now "practically perfect in every way!" Seriously! It has made a world of difference to her choices in foods!

OK. I'm very interested in nutrition, so based on all these reviews I purchased this book. I live in such a remote place in Colorado that there is NO WAY I can find, let alone afford, half of what the author recommends. I'm sure she's on to something, especially about avoiding processed foods and refined flours, but honestly, I have no time or money to buy all organic, pastured meat, find raw milk, make my own yogurt, sprout grains...It's just not realistic and I don't think the Bible commands what she's recommending at all. So I would caution you not to take this cookbook as gospel truth. I might return it...

10 STARS! This book changed our lives. I used to be allergic to milk, not anymore! My daughter used to get stomach cramps after eating, not anymore! This book has helped tremendously with my anemia during pregnancy. And the best part is is that the information is so simple ans easy to use. No one in our family has had any cavities in two years, just by following this book's simple guidelines for overall healthy eating. The recipes are great, especially the chicken soup, the kombucha, the yoghurt, and the peach cobbler (yummm). But better than the recipes is the front section that breaks down food into their different elements - fats, sweeteners, grains, etc., I feel like I finally understand what I'm looking at when I am staring at the oils in the grocery store. No more confusion! I have been highly recommending this book since I bought mine about four years ago. Not a back-burner book, you'll be reaching for it again and again.

We love this book at our house and while we didn't buy it from Sonlight I'm thrilled to see they now carry it! I highly recommend it for anyone who is willing to invest in their health. It is a great combination of recipes and information. The margins are filled with excerpts from other resources filled with valuable information while the text is mainly recipes preceded by a lengthy introduction for each category. Some of the recipes are my mainstay, some I've still not tried and some I've altered a bit to fit what we have available (time and ingredients), but it's undoubtably the first book I turn to for nutrition. The only thing I would change is that she doesn't talk about raw foods as much and those are definitely something we need. Way to go Sonlight for including this wonderful book!

I am so excited to see that Sonlight is carrying this book! I was told by my nutritionist to purchase it and I wish I'd have know about Sonlight carrying it because they have a much better price than I was able to buy it at. This is a wonderful cook book full of far more than recipes. I love all of the quizzes and guessing games along the borders of the pages. I usually can not cook with recipes but I am able to use this book just fine! It is my only cook book.

What an amazing book!! I am so glad that Sonlight now offers this remarkable book! I had been praying about what the Lord would have us do about our diet, which I knew was not what it ought to be. Through a series of events, and books, I was introduced to Nourishing Traditions. This book has transformed the way we think about food. It is continuing to also transform the way we eat. I thank the Lord often that He allowed me to find such a great resource. I am so happy to see the change that has come in the health of my husband, children, and myself! An invaluable resource!

This book helped us to determine our son's digestive ailment when the doctors could find nothing. He was in so much pain he was in tears. It turns out he had a temporary wheat intolerance due to a stomach bug our family had gotten. Following the books explanation of grains and preparing them their way, his digestive track was able to heal in 3 months time with no relapses. How thankful we are for its simple wisdom! We don't find all of it practical to do, but we are able to choose more wisely.

After years of searching for the truth in what is healthy eating, I finally found it in this cookbook. This book teaches you how to cook based on the dietary principles of Weston A. Price. Dr. Price was a dentist who was very concerned about the dental health of his patients. He hypothesized that the reason for the decline in dental health was due to the westerners consumption of processed sugars, flours and canning methods. To test his theory, he traveled with his wife to isolated groups of people throughout the world and discovered that those groups achieved perfect health, free from all degenerative diseases. He found perfect health was attainable by not consuming processed foods and by eating whole, properly prepared foods raised the way God intended. There is hope contained within these pages for anyone suffering from any health ailment. A very good read that will change the way you cook and eat.
