Don't wait until your kids are in high school to read this. Buy it early. This book is not so much about doing high school as it is about conviction to living a Christian life and being guided by the Holy Spirit for all of our plans--especially how it pertains to educating our children in the unique way THAT CHILD needs to be educated.
Having kids approach the high school years can be intimidating to many homeschool parents. Barb Shelton helps revive your convictions about why you homeschool, and reminds you of the end result that most Christian parents are striving for: raising children who are called by God to fulfill HIS purpose for their lives.
Is high school suppose to be about four years of math, four years of science, etc. etc.?? What if your child is not called to a life that requires these things? Barb really helps open your eyes to how we are so engrained in 'government school' thinking and how we can be freed from those chains.
You will see how your child is earning high school credits by simply living their life every day. She has tons of forms to help plot your course and track your child's accomplishments.
She also has a website and email loops that give support and help.
The book is large and it takes time to go through. But it is worth it. She has a conversational tone to her writing. It can get wordy at times, but she always gets to her point. :)
My review can't possibly cover enough about this book. With The combination of Barbs book and continued prayer, I have peace about the high school years. This, to me, is one of the MUST READS for Christian homeschooling.
