When I first purchased Diamond Notes for my then second grade DD we had a little trouble getting into it. We tried again this year with DD now in grade 5 and DS grade 2 and it has been perfect! My DD is now in the process of writing a 5 paragraph paper on "A Cup of Cold Water" and she said writing seemed so much easier than she had expected. Diamond Notes has been so helpful for her in mapping out her plan and having enough of her ideas on paper so that she just needs to flesh them out to write a wonderful papragraph. DS is working through the program at a slower rate but I can see that he is understanding the process really well. I'm so glad we gave Diamond Notes a second try!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! We've gone from tears and frustration with "kid writing" to fun and purpose with "Diamond Notes". We have a 7 yr old in LA2 Intermediate and it's working quite well- We will certainly use this for our younger daughter next year!!!

I absolutely agree--I've told all my friends about this product. I knew how to write a paragraph, but I had trouble breaking down the process and explaining the steps when I was teaching my son. I got Diamond Notes for my daughter with LA 2LN, and the difference in teaching/understanding was night and day! I required my son, now in the sixth grade, to listen in on a diamond notes session for a refresher, and his next writing assignment showed marked improvement in organization. Worth far more than $7!

When I was in school I still recall we were supposed to do a topic sentence, blah, blah, blah. Well, you still need to do that, but diamond notes gives excellent visuals of a baseball diamond (hence the name Diamond Notes) to fill in first, sort of a brainstorming schematic. From there the student progresses slowly and finally forms the paragraph. The entire Diamond Notes program takes 5 weeks at 2-3 days a week. And it is miraculous for my kid who is ADHD and really has trouble organizing his thoughts coherently to write a paragraph. I really can't say enough good things about it.

I used this for my 8y and 10y together. Tears would often accompany writing assignments, but after only a few weeks, the tears have now gone! Diamond Notes helps them to get started, stay on topic and most of all builds their confidence to write. I would recommend this easy to teach and easy to learn method to students of any age who don't like to write. It's very easy to adjust the content to any age, by picking a topic that interests them. Be advised that the complete Diamond Notes course is included in the Language Arts program, Reading with Chapter Books.
