Your purchase of this product will allow us to donate a portion of the total cost of your order to Sonlight's charities. We are thrilled that, last year, we were able to contribute $2.02 to these organizations for every "The Berenstain Bears´ Big Book of Science and Nature" we sold. We look forward to doing the same this year!

Anthology of The Berenstain Bears' Almanac (seasons, weather, and astronomy), Nature Guide (plants, animals, and earth science), and Science Fair (machines, matter, and energy). Humorous yet factual, easy to read; easy to understand. Filled with full-color cartoon illustrations and diagrams. Oversize pb.

NOTE: We are well aware of the general concerns about the portrayal of family dynamics in the Berenstain Bears books, which is why you will find we do not carry any others except this one. We feel this volume is a step above other Berenstain Bears' books because it casts Papa Bear in a generally positive light. Plus, it covers some pretty sophisticated science that appeals especially to preschoolers.

Although the portrayal of family dynamics is important, it should be equally important to consider the philosophy being espoused in "The Nature Guide." Pages 10-11 are direct quotes from Carl Sagan's "Origins of the Universe." Do we really want to have our young children being indoctrinated by the idea that nature is eternal? The book says, "It's all that IS or WAS or EVER WILL BE!" My Bible says only God fits that description.

My children enjoy reading this book. The presentation of the calendar is great! We all can't wait to take explore the rest of the book.

What a great introduction to science! All 3 of my boys have enjoyed this book immensely. I was amazed at how quickly they grasped the concept of levers and other simple machines. What a fun book!

My son begs to read his "science" book everyday, even on weekends. He loves the illustrations. He's always wanting to read extra pages. He's learning without even realizing it!

Who needs another Berenstain Bears book? YOU DO!! Over the years I grew to dread the Berenstain Bears. But, this book is wonderful! It is light and a joy to read.

We have just bought our third copy of this great book. Take my advice and get it spiral bound at an office supply store BEFORE it starts to fall apart, so you won't have to buy 3!!!

By Margaret T., age 4, I like when Papa Bear steps on the alligator and Mama Bear had to tell him to get off. I love it especially when they see butterflies and it's snowing out there. I like it because it's a really good science book and it shows a lot of bears.

My daughter so enjoyed this book that I used it as an incentive to get her to finish her other work on time. We've easily read it 3-4 times through until it's falling apart. Now I'm going to have to buy another--one for supervised "school," and one for them to enjoy whenever.

I like when the Berenstain bears went off to look for birds. I really like this book. I LOVE it! -- Review by Hayley, 4 years old (first year with Sonlight)

This is the book that even my daughter's public school friends pull out of the reading basket and off the bookshelf every time. We have read this book front to back 3 if not 4 or more times through in a year and a half. A must own!
