NOTE: We are well aware of the general concerns about the portrayal of family dynamics in the Berenstain Bears books, which is why you will find we do not carry any others except this one. We feel this volume is a step above other Berenstain Bears' books because it casts Papa Bear in a generally positive light. Plus, it covers some pretty sophisticated science that appeals especially to preschoolers.

the binding on this book is very bad! We used this about 3 times and the binding came apart. We used it one more time and some of the pages have started to fall out!!! For the price not very good quality!! Other than the manufactured quality my 5 yo absolutely loves it! Wondering if we can exchange it??

How unfortunate that my son's favorite book would also be the one to fall about about week 2! I'm so sad...for such an expensive book, I would have expected better binding. I'm going to have to go to the trouble one rater did to put all the pages in a 3-ring binder. :-(

We love the book, much better than any other Bearensteins book we've read. But I must warn that it is not well constructed. I had read this in the reviews and made a point to keep it out of little hands altogether. We were only half-way through before it fell apart. I had to sit down with a hole-puncher and put it in a 3 ring binder so we could finish the curriculum.

My kids (5, 4, and 2.5) love this book. It is fun to read with all the rhymes and colorful pictures, and packs in a lot of info. The binding came unglued after the third time we read it though. Also, some of the pages look like they are formatted incorrectly and the type is almost cut off the bottom of the page. You would think it would be a better constructed book for the price. I noticed several other people had the same problem. Sonlight should take this up with their supplier.

Great science book, though it has evolution overtones in it. "It's [Nature] all that IS or WAS or EVER WILL BE!" Which of course isn't true, it's God Almighty who was and is and ever will be, so I just crossed it out and wrote 'God' instead of nature. Other than that it's a GREAT book!! Highly recommend it.

Our daughter is always wanting to do the "orange bear book" first. She loves this one and so do I.

FAVORITE. They did a great job of introducing science in this book. Very effective and very enjoyable. We will reread this for years to come.

My daughter has enjoyed many Berenstain Bear books, and this is definitely a favorite. We really enjoyed doing a lot of the experiments in the science fair section of this book. We even put on a science fair with a few friends. The almanac lead us to do a simple lapbook on the seasons and months of the year. I really liked how this book encouraged my daughter to explore and learn further.

This was one of our favorites in this whole core! The kids didn't even realize they were learning Science as they enjoyed all the brilliant, colorful and beautiful pictures. The way the whole book rhymes is a double bonus!
Don't let the secular view of nature turn you off...it is just a perfect time to ask your kids if that is what the Bible teaches us! They are smart enough...they know who created everything and who is the only Eternal One! )
Great book choice-thanks Sonlight! Keep them comin'!
