- Included in these packages:
With Horizons Math K, your students will learn to:
- Count by 1's, 5's, 10's, 2's, and 4's to 100
- Recognize and write all families to 100
- Add a single digit to, or subtract one from, all families without regrouping
- Identify colors and shapes
- Name the days of the week and more!
Horizons Math is designed to help your children understand math from the ground up.
Using a spiral learning technique, children are first introduced to a concept and then asked to solve related and increasingly difficult problems over the course of several days or weeks. The concept then re-emerges in later exercises for a new concept. This frees up the children's minds and does not overwhelm them with too much information. They feel confident because they get to take steady, measured steps, and as they revisit concepts over time, they continually strengthen and reinforce their existing knowledge base.
Each year's program consists of three pieces:
- Two colorful, well-organized workbooks each with 80 lessons and 8 unit exams
- Teacher's Handbook with daily lesson plans, answer keys, and final exams
- 80 reproducible worksheets

Love this workbooks. My son loves the bright colors and the activities and since he can read already, he can zip through the lessons on his own.
Do not waste your money on the Teachers guide. It is worthless and doesn't teach anything. Save your money and get the printed schedule from Sonlight which tells you the schedule and what items in your Math box supplies to use on that particular lesson instead. I wish I had.

I like the Horizon Math workbooks but I have been very disappointed in the teacher's guide. The teacher's guide gives very little instruction in introducing concepts. The guide is basically just a schedule and not worth the money.

Two years ago my husband and I sat down with several math programs to determine which one best teaches the subject of math. After looking through the programs we selected Horizons Math. Horizons math teaches math in a precept upon precept method. Mathematical concepts will be introduced and reviewed throughout the lessons so your child builds a strong foundation in math.
