Click to add a handwriting program. We recommend Handwriting Without Tears at this level, and have included the schedule for Handwriting Without Tears K in your Language Arts for Grade K Readers Instructor's Guide. Sonlight strategically schedules this handwriting program so that the letters your children learn in Handwriting match the letter sound they learn in their Language Arts program each week. This makes it easier for children and helps solidify connections between reading and writing.

A great start to get your child reading and writing!

I was really nervous about teaching Language Arts to my children, but this program makes it so easy and fun. My twin 5 year olds really enjoy this part of their curriculum. I imagined them dreading LA time, but they love making their letter pages and absolutely love the Get Ready, Set and Go for the Code (optional, but I strongly encourage getting these!).

This program is such a blessing from God to us. This is my first K teaching experience and Sonlight has made it so easy, smooth and joyful for my 5 yo boy and myself. My son has very readily grown in language arts with no stress. We have not gone through most of Ruth Beechick's book because we simply found it hard to keep up with. I do plan on going back through it though because we're never disappointed when we do read it.

This is the best program I have tried to teach my daughter to read. We used several programs that my daughter hated. Once we tried this program it was a very nice change from tears to cheers. I highly recommend it and I will not be using anything else from now on. The natural method works!

Language K is a great fit for my 5 yr old son! We started off with another LA program from a different company and it was too hard for him. I should have gone with my instinct and picked Sonlight. At times it seemed too easy but at 5 years old - I would rather have multiple days of fun & success instead of days of struggles. The ABC Bingo game was lots of fun, the dictionary easy to use and the Languange and Thinking book was helpful - though at times I skipped parts. I really like this program and now that we have finished it I'm glad that I choose it.
I would recommend this to anyone with a young 5 year old Kindergartner- especially a boy!

I'm really happy with this program. I am able to use it to combine two children ages 4 and 6. I am able to fit each of them nicely with modification.
I highly recommend the ETC series along with it.
I'm not crazy about the Language and thinking book and we have put that aside. I'd love if SL offered something else instead of this book for use with this program.

This language arts program is so easy to use and complete that there is no additional books to get to "complement" it. Spelling, vocabulary, writing, listening, it is all there and more.
