Your purchase of this product will allow us to donate a portion of the total cost of your order to Sonlight's charities. We are thrilled that, last year, we were able to contribute $0.49 to these organizations for every "Get Ready for the Code" we sold. We look forward to doing the same this year!

Book one of a three-workbook introduction to all the consonants of the alphabet except the letter "x." Great foundation for the Explode the Code series used in years 1 and 2.

Note: This workbook is part of an optional workbook series for those who want to supplement our "natural" language-learning approach. It is scheduled in the year K Language Arts Instructor's Guide.

Pb, 78 pp.

Note: Get Ready for the Code includes references to the Instructor's Guide, which is highly recommended for the Code series.

5 out of 5 stars by GINA N on 2009-07-30
My son knew almost no letter sounds and certainly couldn't write his letters, but he did really well with this. The lessons are just the right length and just repetitive enough to stick.

My 4 year old really enjoyed Get Ready for the Code series. A lot of it was review, but it allowed her to do school with her older sister. She was able to be successful with minimum supervision from mom. We will use again with the next child is 4!

2 out of 5 stars by ROBIN E. W on 2009-04-23
I found this workbook to be just busy work, and redundant of what was going on in the Language Arts K Instructor's Guide. Also, it didn't take long for my son to memorize which picture went with which letter, and then he was no longer paying attention to the sounds. The activities in the LAK IG were better because they really focused on the sounds without so much picture-cues. I didn't buy the other 2 books in this set and I don't plan to do so. I found this one to be unnecessary and unhelpful, and my son didn't enjoy it enough to be worth it either.

Excellent book--more than "optional", I found these books the most indispensible part of language arts. Teaches all the consonents & sounds in the alphabet These books can easily double for a writing curriculum as well. Fun workbook activities that my kids greatly enjoyed.
