As other people have written, I have enjoyed the rest of this history series. But having just completed this book with my oldest child I will not use this book with my younger children. I am very surprised that Sonlight would include such a biased book in its curriculum! Is there no other history workbook out there about modern history from a more conservative worldview?

Thank you so much for the negative reviews, ladies! I borrowed my friend's copy and read it before I bought my own and I am so glad I did. There is nothing more modern than the beginning of the Clinton presidency so there is old information in it in regards to race relations and women's rights. The tone of the book is high-handed. I agree that too often opinions are presented as facts. I will not buy this book!

I too have enjoyed this series until this book. For me the point of view expressed did not coordinate with my beliefs. I felt there was too much opinion stated as facts.

We have enjoyed this series up until this book about modern history. It almost made me rethink my entire curriculum choice that this would even be included in a Christian curriculum because of the totally anti-biblical worldview which it spouts as truth!! I would advise anyone to skip it entirely, since the parts that are worthwhile are covered in Landmark. The ideas in this book are some of the main reasons that we don't put our kids in public school, and I cried when I realized what my child had just read and accepted as truth.

We loved this series! The books have short, informative chapters with vocabulary words and tests in each chapter. My children learned even more from these books when I began to have an "open book" test after each chapter. The text is easy to read, and going back over it a second time to find the test answers helped to cement the information they learned. Wonderful! My only complaint is that I wish I would have preread Chapter 8 on pro-life and women's rights. We did not enjoy the views expressed in this chapter.
