My son also says it is a little boring. He was anxious to be done with it. I, however, thought it was very interesting. Perhaps I will use it as a read-aloud with my younger child when the time comes. I think it would be good to use as a "starting point" for discussion, while adding in colorful picture books or videos.

Reviewed by Kurt, age 10. It was okay book, because it was like a Grandfather telling you about an old life, but it was still a little boring.

I chose to read this one outloud because it didn't seem to appeal to by son (being that it is a biography). We absolutely LOVED it!! I can't imagine Core 3 without this book. It is a WONDERFUL first hand account! I really feel this one should be listed as a read aloud instead. We enjoyed discussing it together and shed many tears as we read this man's true and sad story.

Two of my kids had to just fight to get through this exceptionally dull book. They awarded it "most boring book of the year." I'll be skipping it with my younger two.
