I just got my box in the mail today. I am in the process of putting the History and Readers binder together and thought I would offer a few tips:
The tabs in the binder are broken up by week.
There are other tabs for Readers ... Read-Alouds - and History books.
May I suggest that you NOT use the tabs towards the back?
Here's why: Each week, your child will read a book (or two). It would be very practical to look at the schedule to see which book your child will read, and file the study guide for that book WITH the schedule AS you are organizing the binder.
With the SL-suggested organization, you would look at the schedule in one tab, then flip to the Readers to use that study guide, then flip to the Read-Alouds to use that study guide for the day, and then flip again to the History books to use that study guide for the day. The study guides for each section list the book alphabetically, so should you decide to file each study guide with the corresponding week, it will be easy to find the guide.
My only other suggestion if you choose to file the guides and weekly plans behind their appropriate tabs would be to use post-it notes and stick them to the appropriate study guides for a "quick flip". Still, I don't want to do that much flipping - I'd rather have all my papers in the current week.
That means, however, that if your current book will take more than one week to finish, you'll simply need to move the study guide for that book to the next week when you are ready.
I hope that helps any other newbies out there. :-)
