Great biography. My wife did skip some of the more graphic descriptions but it excited the family about the power of God.

Our entire family enjoyed this book. My daughter (age 8) said she was so happy to learn that even when times are hard God is faithful to protect his children. It was the perfect book for our family who are dealing with the illness of my husband right now. Sometimes I would feel that if Gladys could brave the mountains to do God's will I could handle whatever he throws our way. Excellent choice!

Great book, great biography. Grabbed my interest as well as my dd's. "Sometimes it's scary, and sometimes it's not. But overall I like it." I skipped over a few minor parts where they described the how of execution.

Gladys Aylward is a good book. It can build courage, faith and braveness in you. It's an encouraging book for you. It's about an English house maid God calls to China. As she's trying to get to China, she faces many dangers, but she survives to tell the Chinese about Christ. I really enjoyed this book.

This one is life changing. Those with sensative children will want to preread because some of the horrors of war are described but even if you need to leave those passages out, this book will not leave you the same.

We all thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is very well written. It evoked laughter and tears and an excitement for what was going to happen next.

I never cry reading books. This one, I did, only it was happy tears. It was amazing to see Gladys, who the administrator at her Bible school thought was not cut out for mission work, won the mandarin to the Lord by just living out her faith. She may not have been cut out for Bible school, but she knew how to live her faith. That made her ideal for missions work.
I thought it was inspirational, in terms of how God could use a simple, non-descript woman to greatly minister for Him because she was surrendered to Him.
