While I think the idea of this book would be good to give a greater world view, I didn't get very far into chapter 1 before I had to stop because I thought it was completely inappropriate for my 6 year old...this is where I had to draw the line, "'Just wait, American Pig!' cried a boy, waving a machete. 'I'm going to carve you up and eat you!'" While maybe boys might take this better, my little girl is probably going to have nightmares.

Literally my 1st/2nd grader's favorite book of all time. She's already talking about reading it to her children some day!

Review by Lydia M. -- 7 years old. This was my favorite read aloud story this year. It's all about brave people that trust God. It has sooooo many amazing stories like one time a mom in Belize was coming home from the missioary clinic but when she came to a crossroad and she took a shortcut she got lost! So she said to her daughter, "I am going back to the missionary clinic. You stay here with your sister while I go get help.” And off she ran. She ran and ran until she reached the clinic. She knocked and knocked until the door opened. A lady opened the door. "Please help me find my children! They are lost in a cornfield! Can you help me?" "Yes," said Alvin. So off they went. When they got to the cornfield they looked and looked but saw no one. Then thought they heard a man though. He said, "Over here!" again and again. "Who are you?" "Over here!" the voice said again. So they followed the voice. Soon they found the kids. They took them to the missionary clinic to get their bites and cuts healed. When they all thought back to what happened they knew it must have been an angel that had protected the children from getting hurt or eaten by a jaguar. This book was my favorite because it shows a lot of faith missionaries had when they went to different countries to tell about God. This book made me feel like I wanted to read more and more. Like, "I've just got to skip ahead and read more!" I think you'll want to read this book because it has really exciting stories. I hope you will like this book and don't forget, Jesus loves you!

A faith-building book... our son hung on every word & would repeat these stories to anyone who would listen! So thankful for these stories of God's faithfulness & work in the lives of His children. Excellent, excellent book.

I have been reading through this book with our first grader and mature 4 year old. There are some fantastic stories that are great for this age group. There are, however, a few stories that are not appropriate and even scary for this age group. I recommend this book, however, I strongly recommend for the adults to read it thoroughly before reading to young children. Some stories can be creatively edited in order to make them more age-appropriate. Some stories, however, are better left to more mature audiences. Overall, it is a great little collection of missionary stories.

We are enjoying this book! I think it's good for my kids to know that not everyone can be a Christian without persecution.

My 6 year old son LOVED this book. I was a little hesitant to read it at first, knowing some of the stories were violent, but he really absorbed the message. He begged me to keep reading each day. By the end, his heart was completely moved - he was brought to tears and made a personal committment to Jesus right then and there. Totally blew my mind and melted my heart.
