This is a great self-directed review of grammar. Lessons are short and to the point. Great prep for standardized testing in the 5th grade year.

It's a good basic workbook for a child who is not as into creative writing. I used it for a 10-year-old daughter who agonized over the creative writing assignments, but needed the daily practice of language "mechanics". I liked how it stuck to the basics, only teaching the things you really need to know as an adult. It didn't waste my time on "nitpicky" things.

as a 1st year homeschooler and 1st year Sonlighter, I didn't have the courage to post a review sooner...but this curriculum was not worth the money: poorly organized (constant required skipping around within books), poorly written (examples which were monotonous, awkward, and amateurish), and a waste of time. I ended up purchasing several other grammar workbooks and texts to try to teach my daughter what this should have accomplished. We are reading addicts, with books overwhelming our house, so maybe my expectations are unrealistic? But several other workbooks and curricula were simpler, more informative, cheaper, and more effective. Way disappointing.

I wish we had come across this material sooner! It is fairly easy to use, even without a lot of preparation, it is wonderfully simple to correct and has an incredible reference sections (the Keys in the middle of the book) in both the Teaching Manual and the textbook. Worth every penny!
