This book is about a God who is very big, and is great! If you read it you will read many things about him.
I like Beginner's Bible a lot! I think you'll want to read this book because it is good for your life and heart. --review by L.B., 7 year old.

Read This Book!
My favorite book this year is The Bigginers Bible.
It is published by Zonder Kids. It is illustrated by Kelly Pulley.
This is my favorite book because it talks about God. My favorite part of the book was Fire From Heaven. This book made me feel happy. I think you want to read this book because it has stories from the Bible.

This is a great reader! A bit of a challenge (esp all the Biblical names) for the "grade 2 beginner" reading packing, especially since it is scheduled all at the beginning of the year. It would have been more appropriate to be scheduled at the end, or spread throughout the year. My children greatly enjoyed this book and it has been one that they've consistently read over and over for fun. One caveat--some of the stories do contain biblical errors (ie a NT story on Paul says that he baptized "many" people, the Bible says that Paul was not called to baptize and only baptized 2 a very few exceptions) Also, all the stories are made more palatable for children--any violence or remotely scary parts are glossed over or omitted--on one hand, this is nice for young children just learning to read, on the other hand, it gives the wrong impression of some of the Biblical stories. Overall, the biblical errors and glossing are minor enough to not warrant concern, esp. since it's assumed a parent will be there listening to the child read and able to correct/explain any part that requires this.
