This was another one of those books that captures your heart and makes you really admire people with such character as Amos had. To go from being African royalty to be taken captive and being separated from those he loved and knew and would have led would be so hard to go through. Not only did he survive it, he became a man who didn't keep freedom for hisself, but made sure he gained freedom for others. The only thing I was left wondering was what happened to his sister and those left behind - did he not want to go back and find them?

My ds (13) hates reading, and my dd (14) likes very few books.... they both loved this story. That pretty much sums it up for me.
