Sonlight's 12 Days of Christmas Day 7: Art

As a homeschooling mom, I rarely have managed to get to art. I'm not proud of that. It's just the truth.

So when I was assigned to write about ARTistic Pursuits, I dreaded it. I could just see my failure, and not the promise available.

This is more embarrassing. One of my majors was Humanities. I studied a lot of art history, because I love art! And I have at least one son who lives and breathes drawing!

So I was intrigued to find that my enthusiasm for ARTistic Pursuits grew enormously as I researched and wrote.

It helps that the one book that the boys and I have gotten through over the years had one project after another that was completed with enthusiasm, despite initial resistance to branching out. "But I like my colored pencils!" gives way to, "That was really fun!"

So I knew that I liked the program. But to look deeper into how the program was designed the way it was, to see the framework for the lessons—that was immensely helpful to me.

And I have made it an aspirational goal to do more art with the boys. This is not the same thing as a New Year's Resolution. It's more like me saying, "I want to be the kind of mom that does art with my children. Let me put that closer to the top of my list of things to do, and see how we can fit that in to the schedule."

Maybe you'd like to join me?

Go see this exciting product (with a new, fabulous description!).

Warmly,
