Two girls bred rabbits to raise money to give away. A young boy sold his toys at a garage sale. One family decided to give money rather than birthday presents that year. Another child took on extra chores to make more money to donate.
These kinds of stories, often hidden away and kept private, are inspiring! There's something about giving opportunities that encourage us to think about the broader world and be strategic in our charitable endeavors. In a culture where we are urged to "tweet and give $5" to the latest disaster relief, a more intentional approach to helping those around the world is a welcome change of pace.
And this year Sonlight is partnering with Far East Broadcasting to raise money so children without electricity or running water can still hear the Good News of Jesus. For just a few dollars, your children can give a village a hand-powered radio that will be able to pick up Christian broadcasts in places missionaries haven't yet been able to go. Talk about a cool opportunity!
