Angel_2aI love angels. I have collected them for as long as I can remember. In a culture that steals innocence at a young age and is increasingly violent, angels are a reminder of God's peace and watch-care over us. They make their appearance in many biblical accounts, one of the most well-known being the angelic choir that serenaded the shepherds on that hillside in long-ago Bethlehem.

"The angel was joined by a vast host of others—the armies of heaven—praising God and saying, "Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased."  (Luke 2:13-14)

With just five days left until December 25th, why not add a few angels to your Christmas celebration. Here are some great "angelic" craft projects to involve your children in the holiday preparations, and perhaps channel some of that extra energy that appears this time of year! (remember to check all web sites before sending your kids there!)

Coffee Filter Angels are easy to make for kids as young as 6 years old.

Clay Pot Angels are a favorite of mine. I have one sitting on my window sill this year! This is a great independent craft for kids who are a bit older, or as a mixed-age group activity if you have an older student over-seeing. The possibilities for decorating are endless. What a great art project!

Plastic Spoon Angels are the perfect ornament for pre-schoolers to make. They are really cute as package decorations as well.

In these days of uncertainty, sorrow, and discouragement ... don't forget the angelic message found in Luke 2:10 ...
"Don't be afraid!" he said. "I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!"

That Savior, born so long ago, still reigns today ... so we can join the angels in saying "Do not be afraid!"

May you enjoy a blessed Christmas celebration ...
