We have seen the truth of Sonlight's claim that children learn history better when they learn it in the form of a story. Because of Sonlight's Readers and Read-Alouds, our kids have a better grasp and wider knowledge base of historical events at the end of middle school than their parents did at the end of college (due to our [non-Sonlight] textbook-style memorization of facts – facts that were soon forgotten or muddled because they weren't part of a story). Vashti (14) mentioned that some of her friends hate studying history. She said, 'If only they could learn history the Sonlight way, they'd love it like I do!' In her eigthth year of Sonlight, Vashti devours a biography from Core H that brings the Iron Curtain era to life.
"We discovered Sonlight this year, after a friend recommended it to us, and can't believe the difference it has made. We particularly appreciate how Sonlight makes it possible for various ages to learn together. We have watched our children's relationships blossom and grow as we concentrate less on finding resources and more on enjoying quality time together as a family. This is what homeschooling is supposed to be! Here, Alexander (9) beats the heat and enjoys a good book from Core G." – Denise A, Cambodia
This is a daily scene in our home – children and their dad snuggled up on the sofa enjoying a Sonlight book together. These precious family times are what I love most about homeschooling. Our whole family loves learning together with Sonlight – the wonderful books have made doing school an exciting adventure. I often find my children reading their Sonlight books out of school time, they enjoy them so much. Not only are the books fantastic, but the schedules and Instructor's Guides are invaluable. John and Samuel (both age 8) and Caleb (6) share Core C as Keren dives into P3/4 this year. The L family has used Sonlight from the start.

Charming illustrations decorate this survival tale. When the solitary cat hears a plot to burn down the barn with the animals in it, the animals have to figure out how to escape to safety. Where will they live next? (Can you imagine a stray cow, pig, owl, sheep, and cat simply turning up on your doorstep? A difficulty indeed.) School Library Journal said, "Fans of Charlotte's Web and other gentle animal stories will enjoy this charming tale."
