Description

New for returning History / Bible / Literature or All-Subjects Package purchasers. This silver and blue opal pendant is rich in symbolism and beauty. We pray this lovely gift will be a daily reminder of your family's Christian heritage and our mission to impact the world together.

When John and I visited the Holy Land several years ago, I found it amazing to stand in places where Jesus stood. Our guide spoke of the hardships experienced by Christians—although they have no quarrel with either Jews or Muslims, they are directly impacted by the fighting between the two groups. He said not a single family in Bethlehem has all the members still living there—all of them had family members living overseas (and sending money back home) to try to maintain the family there.

I wondered if I could do anything to help. When we returned home, we asked the Palestinian Christians we met in Bethlehem to help us offer authentic Widow's Mite pendants to our first-time History / Bible / Literature or All-Subjects Package purchasers. We'll continue to offer this unique gift to those families who purchase a History / Bible / Literature or All-Subjects Package for the first time.

This year, we've found another treasure we want to share with all our returning complete curriculum package purchasers from 2008 on. We order the Jerusalem Cross directly from Bethlehem, from a shop owned by a fellow believer.

Sterling silver with blue opal inlays, the rich-hued jewels in the Jerusalem Cross pendant glimmer as the sun hits them. The pendant reminds me of the richness and strength of the biblical history we encountered in the Holy Land. Its heritage dates back to the fourth century, and it is rich in symbolism. The four small crosses of the pendant are symbolic of the four Gospels proclaimed to the four corners of the earth, and the large center cross represents Jerusalem, the city where Christianity began. I pray this pendant will be a special reminder of both our beginnings and our mission. Please accept it as our gift to you, and be encouraged that you are helping fellow believers remain in their homeland.
