This collection of books is included in History / Bible / Literature E. If you don't need notes or a schedule, but are just looking for some excellent supplemental reading, this book collection is for you!
Read about America's history from the 1850s on!
Plus a little sojourn to learn about William Wilberforce, the British reformer who ended the slave trade in England peaceably. What a contrast to the United States, where slavery continued until a bloody war divided the nation. And, of course, the residual effects of racism continue to the present.
You'll read about American history in the second volume of former Librarian of Congress Daniel Boorstin's Landmark History of the American People. For the most full experience, we recommend adding to your order the Children's Encyclopedia of American History, which parallels the Boorstin text and uses many additional images.
You'll also read The World Wars, filled with photos and informative text. Powerful and sobering, this is an excellent introduction for later elementary students.
Also includes two two missionary biographies and an album with classic Americana songs to recognize and enjoy, such as "Yankee Doodle," "Dixie," and "Goober Peas."
