As an educator in the community college system, I used to poll my students to see the best way to educate my children - private, (not public), or homeschool.  Invariably the homeschooled youth were the most diligent and respectful of the lot.  I researched until I found Sonlight 14 years ago - and so we began our journey.  Since then I have more than fallen in love with Sonlight - as have my original 4 daughters, and our newer adopted daughter/sister.  The five have bonded more than I could never have imagined, while always increasing their love for the Lord and his awsome world.  Sonlight has been a major catalyst carrying me (and the girls) through single parenthood and back into the stability of a fuller family.  They love using their dramatic flair in bringing what we learn to life - as seen in their rendition of US History in this picture.  Thank you Sonlight for bringing us the best, the most interesting, and uplifting curriculum out there - one we don't have to be cautious about before jumping into a good book!  Three cheers for Sonlight!

This is my son Timothy, on our very first Box Day in 2010. The moment I opened the box and brought out the books, he started flipping through them and playing with the pattern blocks which came with his math set. We started school the very next day. We are now on our third year of home schooling, also our third with Sonlight, and the excitement of Box Day remains the same. (We are actually, as of this writing, awaiting our third core, Core B!) My son enjoys the books and activities, and I love seeing him having fun while learning. Even I have learned so much from Core A! More than once I've said, "This is fascinating! How come I wasn't fascinated like this when I was studying?"

I have structure and direction with Sonlight, so we capitalize on every learning moment. I often get pressured about my choice to homeschool. Thanks to Sonlight, I'm confident that I'm doing the right thing for my girls. I'm learning how to teach as well, which helps melt away the frustration and allows me to be a great teacher and mom. Through Sonlight, I've learned a better approach to phonics, and it has made a world of difference. What I love most is that I don't have to force my kids to learn. Hannah (5, Kindergarten Multi-Subject) and Gracie (2, Preschool Multi-Subject) love learning their letters and words outdoors.
