Sarita's Story
Since 1990, Sarita Holzmann has been a leading pioneer in the world of literature-based homeschooling. As the co-founder and president of Sonlight Curriculum, she cherishes a legacy of family-centered, literature-rich home education. Sarita is happily married to the husband of her youth, has homeschooled her four children and is now a grandmother five times over.
An expert in literature-based homeschooling, Sarita evaluates and chooses each book included in Sonlight's renowned curriculum. She and her husband John have co-authored almost fifty of Sonlight's Instructor's Guides, Core programs and study helps with topics as diverse as World History and Science.
Since founding Sonlight Curriculum twenty years ago, John and Sarita's goal has been to provide families across the globe with the rich resources they need to raise life-long learners who fervently pursue whatever God calls them to do. Sarita's own four children are now thriving, confident adults who continue to love to learn and use their gifts and talents to impact the world through their studies, careers and family lives.
Sarita believes that a vital part of this mission is to encourage families to read great books together, think critically and discuss important ideas. As families engage with the world around them, they shape children who will be effective ambassadors for Christ.
A passionate missions advocate, Sarita serves on the business council of her local church and on the board of directors for Frontiers, a global mission agency that invites Muslims to follow Jesus.
She and John invest many resources in sharing the Gospel with unreached peoples of the world. She recently led thousands of families from the Sonlight community to participate in God's kingdom work through a partnership with Mission India. Together, they helped over 7,000 Indian women find hope through literacy classes and life-changing Scripture.
Sarita is a leading voice in the homeschool world and a trusted guide in how to raise disciples with a heart for God's global work. A down-to-earth mom, grandma, educator and book lover, Sarita knows how to connect with parents and give them inspiration and encouragement for the noble task of home education.
