How do I place an order with Sonlight Curriculum?

You can order from Sonlight Curriculum four different ways:

Online

  • 1. Via Email: please send your order to main@sonlight.com, where a Customer Service Representative will be happy to verify and process your order. Be sure to include your customer number (or specify that you are a new customer), name, shipping address, billing address, and phone number. Do NOT send payment information via email. A Customer Service Representative will call you for your payment information.

  • 2. At our website: We encourage you to place your orders online by browsing our homeschool curriculum. If interested, please view instructions for ordering online.

Manually

  • 3. Via mail: Please send your order to:

    Be sure to include your customer number (or specify that you are a new customer), name, shipping address, billing address, phone number, and payment information. If you feel uncomfortable sending your payment information through the mail, please just leave your telephone number, and a Customer Service Representative will call you for it.

  • 4. Via Fax: Please fax your order to (303) 795-8668. Be sure to include the same information as stated above.

Why don't you accept phone orders?

In order to improve accuracy, speed order processing, and free our staff to answer questions, Sonlight does not accept phone orders.

When you place your order online, you actually enter your order directly into our automated ordering system. This ensures that your order is accurately entered and processed as quickly as possible. Because most of our orders are processed through our website, we keep our efficiency and productivity at the highest possible level, and we are able to offer free shipping, order discounts, and other perks to all of our customers.

How do I order online?

  1. Register for a password with our purchasing system known as cart (Sonlight Curriculum Online Purchasing System).

    This assures you that any items you add to your shopping cart will be there permanently. If you don't complete your order all at once, you may come back the next day or weeks later, sign in, and your items will still be in your shopping cart.

  2. Browse our online catalog and add items to your shopping cart from categories or from specific product pages.

    Already have our print catalog? If you already know the exact item numbers you wish to purchase, you can save time and Order by Item Number.

  3. Once you have added items to your cart, follow the directions on your screen for completing your order through cart. Your order is completed once you see the order confirmation screen. A few minutes later (or sometimes more) it will show up on your Order History page.

How do I find the products I'm looking for on your site?

If you already know the product number...

If you already know the product number you're looking for, probably the easiest way to find a product is to type its product number into the search field on our website.

The search field is located in the upper right-hand corner of nearly every page on our site. Simply click on the "Search" button after you've typed in the product number. The first item on the Search Results page will most likely be what you're looking for.

Here's another trick that will save you some time if you already know the product number of the product you're looking for. Simply add the product number to http://www.sonlight.com/ in your browser's Address field. Then put a " .html" on the end. So, for instance:

http://www.sonlight.com/RR115.html

(Note: You'll want to type any letters in the product number in ALL CAPS.)

How to search with phrases or words

When you're using words and phrases to search, try to be specific. For instance, a search for "Core D Instructor's Guide" is more likely to yield the results you want than just "Instructor's Guide".

When searching for book titles that include numbers, make sure you search for the numeric and spelled-out versions. So, for instance:

The 21 Balloons
The Twenty-One Balloons

How to use the Browse by Subject directory

Another way to find products is by using our site's Browse by Subject directory. You'll usually need to drill down through a couple categories to get to a list of products that meet the criteria you've selected.

Please note that we primarily list packages in the Build Core Packages and Multi-Subject Packages categories, which are sub-categories of Browse by Subject

If you'd like to see the products included in a package, simply click on the package and scroll down. Right underneath the product description you'll see a list of all the products that make up that package. You can then click on any of those products to purchase them individually. (This is how every package works on our site.)

If after using the techniques above you are still unable to find the product you're looking for, please let us know! Send an email to main@sonlight.com and tell them the name of the product you were looking for.

Can I order using my friend's Sonlight account?

If you order using your friend's email address, your information will overwrite your friend's existing information, and your friend's account will be replaced with your account. We found that the main reason our customers use their friends' email addresses to order with Sonlight is because they do not have their own email addresses. If you do not have an email address, you can sign up for a free email account with Yahoo, Microsoft or Google.

We think Sonlight customers are the best customers in the world. Therefore, we offer discounts and specials based on your order history (such as upgrades for Instructor's Guides). If you order using your friend's Sonlight account, we will apply the discounts and special offers to your friend's order. We would love to give you the discount, so encourage you to sign up for your own, unique account.

Why should I pay with an Electronic Check?

Frankly, paying with an electronic check is not quite as convenient as paying with a credit card because an electronic check takes an additional 48-72 hours for processing. So if you're in a hurry, paying with an electronic check is not the best option.

But if you don't have a credit card, then paying with an electronic check should be your first choice!

Paying by electronic check allows you to get your order processed far faster than using traditional "snail mail" to send your payment to us. Plus:

  • You'll receive an order confirmation via email.

  • You'll receive a code that you can use to track your order as it's delivered to your home.

  • You'll save a stamp and envelope.

  • Your order will be recorded in your online order history so you can access it anytime you want.

The next time you're thinking of mailing a check in with your order, consider placing your order online and paying with an electronic check instead. It's faster, easier, and cheaper, and it enables you to be informed about what's happening with your order from the time you place it until the time you get it.

What items qualify for the 10% Core discount?

When you purchase a Core or Multi-Subject Package, you will receive a 10% discount on your entire order. This discount applies to the Core or Multi-Subject Package as well as all other materials that you purchase within the same order, including Language Arts, Science, Math and Elective materials.

However, some items DO NOT qualify for the 10% discount:

  • Gift Certificates
  • Rosetta Stone products
  • Spelling Power
  • Teaching Textbooks
  • Jerusalem Cross
  • Used Forum Access

Should I wait to purchase until the new catalog is released in the spring?

As we start each new catalog year, we expect you will benefit from and be delighted with the changes we have in store for our product line. These changes may include new books that replace old ones which have gone out of print or that better fit our standards and goals for a particular level. Also, because customer input is such a valuable resource for us, you will find that each new catalog implements many suggestions we have collected from Sonlight® users over the previous years.

For the reasons mentioned above, we recommend you wait for the new catalog to place your order, unless you plan to use your curriculum right away. If you want to use your curriculum before mid-May or June, some of our Instructor's Guides may not be available. Many of them are available when the catalog is released, but our experienced Product Development Team may still be revising and implementing many of the great customer ideas and suggestions into some of our Instructor's Guides.

How long will my shopping cart remember the items I have selected?

If you sign into cart (the Sonlight Curriculum Online Purchasing System) with your password information, the items that you choose will remain in your shopping cart until you empty your cart or complete your order. Your order is complete once you receive an order confirmation number.

Please note that shopping carts are updated regularly in order to reflect new prices or changes in curriculum that we must occasionally make. Overall changes to prices and products are made every April 1st, which begins our new catalog year.

If you do not sign into cart, the items that you place in your cart will disappear when you complete your session (leave our website or log off of your computer). If you have not yet registered for a password and user ID for cart, you may register at the My Account page.

How quickly will you ship my order?

Orders usually ship within 3-5 BUSINESS DAYS from the time we receive your order, except during July-September when orders may take 7-10 BUSINESS DAYS to leave our warehouse. Expedited processing and delivery options are available.

Time Payments

Paying for homeschooling curriculum can be daunting at times. In order to serve you better, we allow you to pay for your Sonlight materials over several months at no extra charge.
