This Bible is way over the suggested age for this preschool program. There is far too much text for a child to remain engaged. I bought "A Child's First Bible" by Kenneth N. Taylor to replace this one. It is wonderful and perfectly suited for this age group. It remains similar in that it asks questions after the short story and had beautiful, high-interest illustrations.

This is a nice little Bible story book for grade school kids. I have three kids, 6, 4, and almost 3. The six-year-old loves it, but the 4 and 3 year old have a hard time paying attention. It is way over the three-year-old's head and when she is engaged, she usually just interrupts repeatedly to ask irrelevant questions about the picture. There is only one picture and a full page of text per story, which makes it hard for younger kids to follow. Also the verse for the day is in KJV, which we never use at home or church, so I am always trying to reword it so they understand. The questions at the end of every story are not discussion questions, but factual kind of questions that often require pretty advanced recall skills. (For example, "What does Abraham's name mean?" Answer: Father of a multitude) I agree with other reviewers that this book is just misplaced in the 3/4 curriculum, otherwise it's not bad. My younger kids like the "Read With Me Bible: An NIrV Story Bible for Children" (Zonderkidz) which uses simplified NIV text and has lots of really active engaging illustrations. The pictures are very comic-book style, so maybe some parents would prefer the more sacred looking Sunday school art style of 101 Favorite Bible Stories better, but my younger kids definitely like it a lot.

I bought this for my 3 yr old however I read it to my 7 yr old to supplement along with Leading Little Ones to God. It is great for him and he enjoys the stories. It is too advanced however for a 3 or 4 year old. :(

As much as I WANTED to love everything about this core, I just cannot say that about this book. My kids cry whenever I say we going to read a story from it! The stories are too long and dry for this age group. I still read from it occasionally but they enjoy a different Bible story book I have much better. I think this one would work more for 5 - 8 year olds.

My children were not captivated by this Bible. I was really sad that they dreaded school because they disliked the mature content of this Bible. My 4.5 yr old even went as far as hiding it from me daily. Needless to say we switched to the Jesus Storybook Bible and they enjoy so much more at this age. The 101 Story Bible is good, but too mature for 3 and 4 year olds I believe.

Illustrations are not cartoony. That's a plus. Stories are kind of dull, and occasionally a little graphic, particularly for the age range. This is the only Sonlight book that I have "shelved" before finishing.

It's ok, not very attention grabbing for my 3.5yo, but she sits still whenever we read aloud anything anyway. I think she is able to absorb little information for now. This is her first chronological Bible-based read aloud.

This is a great collection of bible stories. However, like others said, I think this book would be better appreciated by older children. So, I give it three stars as included with the P3/4 package. It did not hold the attention of my 3 year old or 2 year old no matter what I did to draw them into the stories. I wanted our bible reading to be both fun and full of enjoyment for my children. So, we ended up switching this out for The Beginner's Bible. The Beginner's Bible is included with later cores, however, the illustrations give my children plenty of visual stimulation to help hold their attention.

I really like this Bible story book. The pictures are great! They aren't weird cartoons, but add to the story by being really thought out and done well. The text doesn't stray far away from the true Bible stories like some we have read. I greatly appreciate accuracy. We have found a couple things, but they are few and far between. I would definitely recommend this book probably for kids ages 3 up to 10.

I'm not sure how to rate this, because I thought it was a great Bible story book, but just not for the target age of P3/4. My older children (5 and 7) enjoyed it much more than my 3.5 year old did.
