A thorough study on what the Bible says about money

Note: This item is included in Sonlight's Economics program.

Alcorn deals with materialism, stewardship, debt, and more. Are Christians called to be poor? Scripture has faithful wealthy believers and faithful poor believers — no one verse answers this question.

Also addressed: how much are believers today supposed to give? What is our responsibility to the homeless? And more. You probably won't agree with Alcorn on everything, but this is a great starting-point for Biblical thinking about money. Thought-provoking. Includes study guide. Pb.

5 out of 5 stars by JENNY R on 2009-03-02
I had heard a lot about Christian principles regarding money management, etc, but this book offered way more than that. It gave the reasons behind the principles and covered scenarios I hadn't even thought of before. The author changed my entire worldview. His arguments were carefully worded, well thought-through, full of faith, but not at all prescriptive. He offered insights and sound biblical reasoning to back them up, but left me to work out the finer details with God. This is the first time I have heard a truly Biblical perspective on things such as insurance, savings and inheritance. Highly recommended. I will be eternally grateful that I read this book.

Wow! Absolutely the BEST book I've ever read on this topic. It really jolted my thinking out of its comfortable rut. I'm looking forward to going through it again with my kids in the Economics course. I'm buying multiple copies to give away, starting with one for each of my children.

A very good book, which will make you THINK hard about the way you're using the money you control. A suggested schedule for studying the book as a group (or for homeschool lessons) is provided in the back of the book.
