Some of the pictures are like soft porn, revealing and sensual. Not just with Adam and Eve, but throughout the bible. Others are extremely graphic and violent. My kids are on the sensitive side and my husband and I did not think it was necessary to show these pictures to them. (I agree with Kit T.) We ended up getting rid of this bible and purchasing the 'Read With Me' Children's Bible by ZonderKidz which my 3 and 5 year old love.

We love this Bible. It is our children's first Bible and our daughter routinely asks for her Bible stories. The art does not bother me as some people have commented on it.

I didn't have high hopes for how much we would enjoy this one but it has been wonderful. They stories are a great length - although we usually read several at each sitting. The pictures are realistic but well done. We have just finished the Old Testament and moving into the New. It is a good first overview of the entire biblical story.

This is a wonderful stepping stone Bible. We previously read, The Big Picture Bible and the Jesus Storybook Bible, this was a good place to go after those. We will move on to Egermiers after we read through this one. Our family Loves to read the Bible and this is a good one!

My son (4) loves this bible. He will let me read chapters at a time to him. This might just be his favorite book in this core!

I was very disappointed with this book. The pictures, while very artistic, are what I would describe as "intense." The pictures of Adam and Eve in the garden are quite sensual, and there are others — such as Cain killing Abel, Samson killing a lion, and David killing Goliath — which are in-your-face graphic (without actually being gory, although Goliath's blood does look pretty messy). My children are very sensitive, and neither my husband nor I felt good about giving them this book. I have other things I use for Bible, so it was not a terrible loss, but it was disappointing. Obviously, other people have found it to be perfect for their families, and may even find the intense artwork to be a learning aid; but I could not recommend this as a book for young children, who pore over every detail of a picture book.

My 7 year old and 4 year old love this Bible. Someone sleeps with it every night. I thought that the Noah's Ark picture might be a bit disturbing but they did not seem to notice. It actually makes you think about the gravity of the punishment. It is no longer a cute little Bible story that just shows Noah and the adorable animals on the Ark. Eye opening. The stories are short so little ones don't have time to lose interest which is nice. I want my children to love the Word of God and they are definitely loving this Bible. I have a feeling we will have to purchase a new one at the end of the year. We are wearing this one out!

Unlike what some of the reviewers have said, I appreciate the realism depicted by the beautiful illustrations in this book. Whereas I once might have objected to material such as this, I have now determined that I would prefer not to candy coat the Bible for my children, even at a young age. This is God's Word, and these are the stories it tells. Sin is serious, and its consequences are devastating. What's more, I really appreciate the Scriptural accuracy of this well-written book. And I *love* the quick, albeit succinct comprehension questions included at the end of each reading, which really help me to gauge my child's understanding of the material. It is my daughter's favourite book in the P4/5 core, so far.

I am actually back to reorder as my son threw up all over this on a road trip and then broke into tears because he'd "couldn't read it anymore." The pictures were far more disturbing to me than they were to him at 4. But this is the kid who noticed that Goliath on the cover of the edition of The Beginner's Bible we have was smiling and didn't think that was right;). This is a well-done, lovely rendition.

We have really enjoyed this Bible as a part of our P4/5. My 3-year-old enjoys it as well, more so than the P3/4 Bible! I found the pictures to be pretty realistic compared to other "story" Bibles, but my children didn't seem to be affected by them in a negative way.
