An excellent book. My kids greatly enjoyed hearing about these heros of the Christian faith. I learned so much from these books--I had not heard of most of these Heroes before. The book is a bit of a stretch for the intended age range (Core C)--still the readings are short enough and include comprehension questions to make it useful. There is an anti-Catholic bias to the book which is addressed in the IG. We had a hardcopy version of the book, which helps it hold up for repeated readings. This book is a keeper, and one of the books which I'd prefer in hardback vs paperback.

Wonderful book, horrible age level. We fought our way through this book because I loved it, and while my daughter learned a little bit, my husband enjoyed listening to it much more than she did and learned a lot more as well. Another book I had to put away for later. Sigh.

This is an example where having a child older than five is a plus. My ds was six when we did Core C, and he really enjoyed these stories. While some parents thought the first couple of weeks with Hero Tales were a mistake, ds talked about the story of Martin Luther, told during that time, over and over again.
We loved these stories.

This is a beautiful, well written book. I have personally enjoyed reading it. However due to the content we have decided to hold off reading it to our daughter until she is older.

I'd have to agree with several other reviewers. I loved the idea, but this is in the wrong age category, especially as part of it is scheduled for the beginning of the kindergarten year. We too had to put it aside as my nearly 6 y.o. son was quickly was dreading our reading time, and we were just starting off.

This book was not at all right for my family and our beliefs.

I agree that this is a great book but wrong age range. I learned a ton! My 5 year old wasn't as much into it.

We used this core at the higher end of the age range; my son turned 7 in the middle of the schoolyear. He loved this book. He asked for it again and again throughout the year. I enjoyed it, too.
