Sonlight^® Newcomer P3/4

My son absolutely loves P 3/4. When we first started it at 2.6 he got about half of it. Now he is approaching 3 and we are about to move on. My grandchildren from 3 to 8 listen in on the stories too. The 20th Century Children's Book Treasury and Harper Collins Treasury of Picture Book Classics are their favorites. We have a huge coconut tree from Chicka Chicka Boom Boom ;-). Thanks Sonlight !!!

We are almost finished with this program and my 3 yr old wild boy that never knew how to be still has grown to love story time and wants to read book after book (sitting down).I wanted to make sure I covered the classic fairy tale stories with my kids and they are all a part of this curriculum along with modern classics like Where the Wild Things Are. I will never part with this collection it really is the foundation for an incredible family library.

Our family agrees with the rave reviews here - my girls loved these books, and are still picking them up and requesting them again although we are on the next stage up. I enjoyed the helpful and encouraging tips and comments in the Instructors Guide, though we did none of the related activities. They were either at the wrong level for my two, or had already been done. That doesn't stop a 5 star rating though - the books are fantastic and don't actually need anything to help them.

When I first opened our package I was speechless. Everything from the high-quality books to the box they were packed in brought joy to my son. As I saw his eyes light up with each book we pulled out of the box from this set, I couldn't have been more thrilled. Our family is beyond pleased with the choice we made to start using Sonlight P3/4.

My son(age 4) loves all the books. We started in May and are taking our time with everything but he loves to read. "101 Children's Stories from the Bible" is very useful, as he also goes to Bible Study Fellowship and we read the stories he learns about in his class. "Go Dog Go" and "Nana Upstairs,Nana Downstairs are also his favorites. If it is a new book or story we are reading it may take him a day to warm up to it but he usually does. This core has been very easy to "teach" and for myself, who is totally new to homeschooling, it has been a relief to realize homeschooling can be fun. I think at this point my heart would break if I had to send my son to school!!

I am using this core with my 4 and 3 year old children. We have all really loved the stories, especially the classic children's literature that I also remember loving as a child. This is a great purchase for the books alone. My only complaint is that the activities that go along with the books are very simple and my children needed and wanted to do "more." I had to add to this curriculum on my own for it to fit with my family (but this was done easily) This is a very low pressure core, which is a great start to just getting you and the kids used to whatever schedule that fits your homeschooling family.

My 2.5 year old loves this kit. I am certain after teaching first grade for five years that this is the kit to help my child learn to love reading. He already is pointing to the words and reading a very basic one word story entitled, "Baby Says" after only one week. It is so important to find a curriculum that will help your child or children enjoy learning. Sonlight is most certainly the way to go. I love it and will never change!!

I bought this for my 3.5 year old for some organized summer reading/activities. I am thrilled with the selection of books. He is so interested in all of them. If you follow the teacher's guide the books you read first are a little basic for a progressed 3 year old, but there are plenty of good ones just the same. I have mixed emotions about the teacher's guide. I like that the activities that coincide with the stories are very easy and simple. I don't think a preschool needs to be bogged down with a crazy amount of objectives however if you have a more progressed three year old the objectives may be a bit simple. All in all I think the reading is the most important part and the books are fantastic.

You won't regret getting this Core for your young ones! My children are 6, 4, 2 and new baby and I can honestly say they all (myself included!) love reading and listening to these stories. I appreciate that Sonlight put the time and effort into picking great books even for the little ones! The first favorite was "Horton Hatches the Egg", then was "Go, Dog. Go!", and I think now it is, "What do people do all day". Teddy Mix and Match is a huge favorite, too! We read through this core in about two months, and we continue to read it still!

This was a lot of fun. My children LOVED "What do people do all Day?" and selections like A Robert McCloskey Collection & Eloise Wilkin Stories were favorites too. A nice cozy couch time reading to the littlest ones. Highly recommend.
