I have 3 children ages 7, 10, & 13 and we LOVE this CD. I hear all of my children humming or singing these songs while doing other things. The longer songs do take some time to learn, but the Sonlight curriculum allows for this in the schedule. We also thoroughly enjoy the variety of music from other lands. All in all...absolutely 5 stars!

We accidentally ordered two of this cd and after listening, I decided to keep the second as a gift for someone. It is truly lovely, and the musical mix makes it so much more interesting to listen to than the typical kids Bible memory cds. My oldest daughter has an assignment for her outside music class, to listen to different types of music each week and write about them. We are starting with this cd. Since we travel a lot, the music brings back memories of other places, with the extra bonus of scripture references added to the bible verses. I'm very glad we bought it.

We are the creators of the Sing The Word series of Bible memory music for families. I appreciate Rhonda's comment on her preference for "catchy" melodies, and her experience with the "All Nations" CD. I want to point out to the Sonlight community that there are 11 songs on this CD, 6 of which are quite short and easy to learn. 5 songs were composed for much longer Scriptures, and so these songs could not be "catchy" due to the length of the texts. Maybe one of these long songs was the issue for Ronda. Be aware that this CD is also recommended for ages 10 and up, although I am absolutely positive that younger children (5-9) can quickly memorize the shorter songs quite easily. With each successive CD for a slightly older child, Sonlight's goal is to present longer Scriptures for memorization, and so we are challenged with writing music for these longer texts. Since the child is older, we believe that he/she should be exposed to more challenging music, with richer melody, harmony and instrumentation, along with a wide variety of styles. This serves to support the continuing aesthetic development of children while they are learning the Bible texts. I can appreciate Rhonda's desire for short, "catchy" tunes, and this certainly applies to 1/2 of the "All Nations" CD. However, it not possible (nor desirable) to write a "jingle"-type song to an entire chapter of the Bible (like Ps. 91) or an extended portion, like Matthew 5:1-16. As a composer, I can tell you my goal is to write melodies to these Scriptures in such a way that the melody repeats as much as possible, so that it is as "catchy" as possible. (I do not write in a "through-composed" manner, which basicaly means NOT repeating a melodic phrase.) So, my purpose for "reviewing" my own work is to remark on Rhonda's review and clarify the contents of this CD. Since I have to "rate" it because the Sonlight review format requires a rating, I will give it "5 stars". I am not boasting here at all, but I really believe this is our best work yet, so why not say it with stars? Thanks for your time - Sincerely, Steve Harrow and family.

This CD has beautiful music. It is inspiring to hear bible verses put to music. I only give it 3 stars, because this CD is supposed to help children learn Bible verses. Unlike the A to Z album, this CD features more fancier, and more technically difficult music. Ths songs are not easy for children to learn or to sing. They are not "catchy". Buy this CD to enjoy the music, but don't buy it with the expectation that your children will be picking up the songs and signing them around the house.
