This book perpetuates the myth of Thomas Edison being a great American history. From Sonlight, I would have expected a book that was not so one-sided. T Edison was a nasty man who cheated, lied, and broke contracts. T Edison tortured animals to death to "prove" that N Tesla's AC electricity was deadly--in reality, T Edison's electricity was more more deadly. Fortunately, N Tesla's AC current was widely adopted--it would have been impossible to bring electricity to rural areas using T Edison's DC current. Unfortunately, T Edison's carbon filiment light bulbs were widely used until recently, even though N Tesla's fluorescent bulbs were better in many respects. I hope in the future that Sonlight considers using a more balanced book on T Edison and/or adding a book on the true American hero, N Tesla.

A nice short book without a lot of frills--so short, in fact, we were able to read it in one day, but everyone insisted that we go on. And Edison was homeschooled or at least self-taught--isn't that something?!
