Beginning with four basic geometric shapes: a cube, a pyramid, a cylinder and a sphere, Sculpt Today soon has you forming three extremely realistic images in three dimensions: an alligator, a lion's head, and a turtle stepping over a stone. The program teaches basic sculpting techniques: the additive technique of clay sculpture based on armatures, three-dimensional measuring (and how to transfer such measurements from a physical object to an object one is producing); how to use professional sculpting tools, and more! For students 10 and older.
The kit contains:
- 1 3/4 pounds of Sculpey® polymer clay
- 3 durable plastic, double-ended sculpting tools (knife and thumb spatula, chisel and point tool, and ball and angle chisel)
- 1 measuring caliper
- 1 preprinted, coated work surface
- 3 blank, coated work surfaces
- 1 oz. black acrylic paint (base coat)
- 1 oz. bronzing patina (finishing coat)
- 1 finishing brush
- step-by-step instructional video
- printed instruction manual.
Items you will need to provide:
- aluminum foil
- a ruler
- a rag or paper towels
- some toothpicks
- a standard kitchen oven to solidify your clay figures.
Polymer clay stays pliable "forever" till you bake it in your oven. After baking it solidifies and is then fully paintable.
