A doctor who talks to and understands animals...Who didn't dream of this at some time in their childhood? It is one of those books you can really escape into. Kids absolutely loved it, and so did I. We all laughed so much!

I think we enjoyed this book more after it was over and we watched the movie.

My girls ENJOYED Dr. Dolittle. They still talk about the book and even pretend to talk to their animals. They looked forward to the adventures and learning about the animals. It was a fun read.

The Story of Dr. Doolittle was written by Hugh Lofting in 1920! It was published by Yearling in 1920! The author is Hugh Lofting, and the illustrator is Hugh Lofting! The story is about when Doctor Dolittle has to cure the sick monkeys in Africa. Then he looses his boat and can't get back to Puddleby! The story of Doctor Dolittle is funny because the animals talk. There are some pretend animals in it. My favorite part was when Doctor Dolittle takes over the pirate ship and the leader of the pirates tries to get on and Jip the dog tried to bite their noses. That story made me feel good, made me laugh and was exciting. Doctor Dolittle is funny and the pirates are funny too! The animals are really funny too, and wierd. Dr. Doolittle you should read becuase it is exciting and an adventure.

If you never read a book called "Dr. Dolittle", I must tell you something. You will learn that Dr. Dolittle can speak animal language. I will tell you my favorite part: I like it when the parrot hypnotizes the prince. Oh, let me tell you also what reading the book made me feel like... It made me feel like traveling the world! And if you read Dr. Dolittle you will learn what a Pushmi-Pullyu is! by Elise N, 7 years old.

This was also one of our favorites from Core K. My children also begged me to read 'just one more chapter, please!' each time. We found ourselves laughing out loud numerous times - especially about Gub-Gub!

One of the read-alouds that my husband enjoyed sitting in on. Very different from the movie but very good.

We loved this book. It is the only chapter book in Core K that my son listened to along with his sisters. (He was 3 and 4 during our Core K year.) All of us laughed out loud at the hilarity of it all. My children were excited to learn about all the animals mentioned in the book, and kept asking me to PLEASE read just ONE MORE chapter!
