An introduction to world history from Ancient Egypt and Sumer through the reformation. You may wish to use this program, with no modification, as the basis for teaching one or more children 10-14 years old. With modification, it may be used with students from 8-15 years old. Many customers combine this program with the Core 1 program to teach students from K on up.

Wondering if your children will ever grasp the flow of world history? You'll be well acquainted with what happened in history through the end of the 16th Century when you're done with the new Sonlight^® Core 6 program.

Susan Wise Bauer's much talked about Story of the World provides the narrative foundation to the program, with the Usborne Encyclopedia of World History furnishing a visual backdrop.

Core 6 also uses two Genevieve Foster titles, Augustus Caesar's World and The World of Columbus and Sons, to weave an incredibly rich, historical tapestry.

But the history segment is just the beginning of the treasure you will discover on your journey. Masterful works like I, Juan de Pareja, The Golden Goblet, and The Single Shard, plus almost a dozen other Read-Alouds, will bring past eras to life. Your children will also enjoy Readers such as The Bronze Bow, Adam of the Road, and The Great and Terrible Quest. I look at the titles and fond memories crowd my brain. This is education for the joy of it.

The International Children's Bible Field Guide provides introductory notes to each book of the Bible: who wrote it, when they wrote it, where, why, etc. Charts, maps, photos and more help bring the biblical text "alive." Students are required to do one major research project in Core 6. We recommend that they study a Christian ministry among an ethnic group that does not yet have its own church. Besides this report, we also call upon seventh through ninth grade students to produce a well-reasoned position paper on some subject of personal and national or international concern.

Estimated time requirement on either the four- or five-day-per-week/36-week schedule for a single student studying all subjects, including the Core Program, Science, Math and Language Arts: Child: 4 - 6 hrs/day; Parent: 2 - 3.5 hrs/day direct involvement, availability for remainder of time.
