The booklet that came with the chest was very informative and enjoyable to read. The activities were nice. Not very in depth, but nice for the price and what I expected. I felt that it made a nice addition to our China studies. My son says that the calligraphy set worked very well.

Two of my daughters used this in Grade 5 and they loved the calligraphy tools but the tower was very hard to assemble. They enjoyed playing the Chinese Chess game as well. They liked the book fairly well and the many illustrations. The book was not too boring because only 2 pages were assigned in a day.

My kids were very excited to get to this resource. I have mixed reviews. The booklet was handy, the Great Wall diorama and the Chinese writing tools were well used by my kids (and continue to be so), but due to our beliefs, the I Ching and the Chinese zodiac activites were not used at all. The fan with stickers and the map were just so-so. If I were the SL publishers, I would look for another resource to provide hands-on activitied to highlight China.

The booklet is tiny, but is packed with pictures and interesting information. The activities, however, were disappointing at best.
